FOCUS
Health inequity is killing us. Establishing just and fair policies related to our food and physical activity environments is essential to ensuring that all people have an equal opportunity to live the full course of their lives in optimal health.

STRATEGIC INITIATIVE: Mujeres Amorosas Poderosas Community Economic Security
Mujeres Amorosas Poderosas will work in three areas: people (sociocultural environment), place (built environment), and opportunity (economic security & education). Our work includes creating norms that support healthy and equitable relationships—norms that are supportive of nonviolence and norms that support engagement in family matters. In addition, we will work to build strong social networks and trust, as well as a willingness to take action on partner violence as a community issue. We will work to create media and marketing practices that support healthy and equitable relationships, decrease the density and availability of alcohol outlets, and advance policies that increase safe, stable, and affordable housing. Our work will include efforts that promote family and community economic security and education. By advancing an agenda of love and justice, we will build the worth and resilience of Latina immigrants in Fresno County in order to decrease their risk of experiencing violence.

MORE ABOUT GENOVEVA
I am a child of farmworkers who was raised in poverty. I wasn’t supposed to graduate from high school, let alone be a recognized leader. I am here because someone told me I couldn’t be, and I want everyone from disadvantaged backgrounds like mine to know that they belong.
