Each year, Culture of Health Leaders welcomes a new cohort of leaders. They are individuals from any field, profession, or sector who want to advance equity and health in their professions, industries, and communities.

APPLICANT REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must:

  • Be highly motivated and poised to collaborate across sectors.
  • Have a strong record of leadership experiences (formal or informal).
  • Have the desire to deepen their leadership experience.

The best way to see who this program is for is to meet our current leaders. But keep in mind that this is just the start—the experience will only grow stronger as new leaders from many other backgrounds, disciplines, and perspectives round out this growing group. Imagine yourself on the team!

Here is a quick guide to help you prepare a successful application.

  • Step 1: Learn
    • Visit the About the Program page to learn more about the Culture of Health Leaders experience.
    • Review Applicant Requirements above and this year’s Call for Applications. 
    • Watch a recording of the 2020 applicant webinar.
    • Download the program fact sheet.
    • Before you begin your application, you can preview a blank application to understand the kind of information and level of detail required.
    • Be willing to work with leaders from all backgrounds and beliefs.
  • Step 2: Register to Apply
    • Register for MyRWJF by going to my.rwjf.org. Use your email address to set up a free, password-protected account.
    • Visit my.rwjf.org and sign up to be notified when this and other funding opportunities are available.
  • Step 3: Gather Application Materials
    • To apply for Culture of Health Leaders, you’ll need:

    • Thoughtful responses to questions about:

      • Your leadership experience.
      • Your vision for a Culture of Health.
      • Your experiences collaborating with organizations and other leaders.
      • Your readiness to engage in a program that advances health equity.

    • A personal video that provides a glimpse into the challenges in your community and the opportunities to build a Culture of Health. The video:

      • Is intended to supplement the written application and is an opportunity to bring your community to life.
      • May be created on a mobile device.
      • Must be no more than three minutes (180 seconds).
      • Must be developed specifically for this application.
      • Should not be professionally produced.

    • Contact information for three people who can attest to your leadership qualities. References must include:

      • A supervisor, board member, or team leader who has experience leading you in a volunteer or professional role.
      • A peer leader who can describe your leadership style and peer interactions.
      • Someone you have led in a volunteer or professional role.
