Owner and Graphic Facilitator
Rio Holaday Consulting
FOCUS
Creating new ways of being with each other through facilitation, graphic recording, and honest conversations about scary topics. I create space for people to get real about who they are, what they want, and what they need from each other. I specialize in bringing together folks from different perspectives who need to work together to address a social justice issue. Budding graphic novelist about the things we fear and don’t talk about.
STRATEGIC INITIATIVE: Other Voices Other Narratives Media Project
My strategic initiative strengthens the sense of belonging among folks whose belonging has always felt precarious. The initiative starts by creating new ways of being with each other in the context of death, dying, and caregiving among young (~25-45 yo) people of color who are close to losing a loved one and desire a new way of being with them. I will interview individuals either one-or-one or in groups about their experiences and create a graphic recording of each interview. The interview and recording will be exhibited on a platform such as a website, graphic novel, or in-person event, or podcast that showcases the graphic recordings, stories, and sound bites from young people of color who are caregivers. My strategic initiative targets the system of oppression that allows one narrative — that of whiteness, wealth, and old age — to shape the behaviors, systems, and policies that govern the way we approach the end of life. My initiative will address a new topic each year.
